Injury Wrap: Waiting on Julio Jones, Jordan Reed

Do you trust a hobbled Julio Jones in Week 14?
Do you trust a hobbled Julio Jones in Week 14?

It’s a reasonable injury report for Week 14, but let’s be sure to take a detailed look around, given what’s at stake. Here’s the latest.

• Julio Jones is dealing with turf toe and didn’t practice all week. Consider him a game-day call at Los Angeles. It sounds like Jones will try to play through the malady, but surely won’t be 100 percent. Mohamed Sanu (groin) is already ruled out, if you want to talk yourself into a Taylor Gabriel play.

• Jordan Reed (shoulder) did some work this week and has a chance to play at Philadelphia. At least it’s an early start, so we’ll have the information in advance of the full day.

• Michael Thomas (foot) did some work Friday after two complete days off. He’s a game-time call for the showdown at Tampa Bay. Mark Ingram (toe) is iffy for another week, but context clues point to him playing. Keep in mind, the Bucs defensive line has been terrific of late.

• There’s a chance Charles Sims (knee) could play against the Saints this week. Sims isn’t on the fantasy radar, but his presence could complicate things for Doug Martin. The Bucs have been feeding Martin with heavy volume, but the efficiency hasn’t arrived. Jacquizz Rodgers also has a role in this offense.

• Dorial Green-Beckham (abdomen) missed the full practice week and isn’t expected to play against Washington. Ryan Mathews (knee) and Jordan Matthews (ankle) should be available, after active practice weeks.

• Sammy Watkins figures to play through his foot injury, but check on Sunday just to be sure. He finished with three catches at Oakland, targeted nine times. Robert Woods (knee) and Charles Clay (knee) might be able to play, not that anyone in the fantasy playoffs should be looking that deep.

• Justin Forsett signed on with the Broncos, to muddle things for Devontae Booker. Trevor Siemian (foot) has a chance to return to action; the team will probably make its decision after Saturday’s walkthrough.

• Tavon Austin (chest) worked out all week and should play against the Falcons. Kenny Britt remains the only fantasy-relevant wideout here.

• Martellus Bennett (ankle/shoulder) will try to play through his injuries Monday against Baltimore. Remember the three-touchdown explosion Bennett had at Cleveland in Week 5? He’s merely the No. 27 tight end since. You need to shoot higher.

• The Texans limited Lamar Miller (ankle/ribs) all week, but he should play in a critical divisional game against Indianapolis.

• Chris Boswell (abdomen) worked on Friday and should kick at Buffalo, not that it makes sense for fantasy owners to trust him. The Steelers are aggressive with their two-point tries, and there’s always the risk of Boswell aggravating his injury.

• Marvin Jones (quad) could be a game-time decision again; remember, he didn’t play at New Orleans. Theo Riddick (wrist) and Eric Ebron (knee) are expected to play through their aches and pains.

• Three Jaguars are clearly out for this week — Julius Thomas (back), Allen Hurns (hamstring), and Denard Robinson (ankle). I can’t imagine why anyone would trust Chris Ivory (hamstring) at this point, but he has a chance to play, in some role, against Minnesota.

• DeVante Parker (back) isn’t 100 percent, but he’s expected to play against Arizona.

• The Jets say Bryce Petty will be their quarterback for the final month. If you need a super-deep sleeper, note that Petty forced the ball to Robby Anderson last week (and they hit on a long touchdown).
