Inter Milan are reportedly willing to sell major Tottenham defensive target Alessandro Bastoni as long as they receive their hefty asking price.

The Times reports that Spurs boss Antonio Conte is looking to bring his former Inter charge to north London, as the Italian looks to add a number of quality additions to his squad this summer.

And the report states that Inter will part company with Bastoni as long as they receive £54million.

The Italian giants need to raise funds to help with their financial issues. To that end, they view 23-year-old Bastoni as one of their top assets capable of recouping top dollar.

Conte and Bastoni worked together at Inter when the San Siro outfit won Serie A in 2020-21.

And The Times adds that Bastoni ‘has credited Conte with his development and progress into the Italy side’.

Indeed, the defender is viewed as the long-term successor to Italy stalwarts Giorgio Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci at the heart of the Azzurri’s defence.

Bastoni is a natural fit for the left-side of Conte’s back three, a position Ben Davies normally fills.

While that would be harsh of the Wales man, Bastoni is viewed as a definitive upgrade. It would also allow Conte to use Davies as a back-up centre-back and wing-back.

Two Inter stars Tottenham bound

Bastoni could become the second Inter star to arrive in north London this summer.

Spurs are believed to be very close to announcing a free transfer deal for Croatian veteran Ivan Perisic.

The 33-year-old is expected to feature at left wing-back for Tottenham, which could mean the end of Sergio Reguilon’s stay at the club.

The Spain star’s career in England has not really taken off they way many thought it would.

Conte was not particularly a fan and even played the right-footed Matt Doherty ahead of Reguilon.

Real Madrid have a buy-back option on Reguilon but are more than happy with Ferland Mendy in that position. That leaves a potential switch to Atletico Madrid on the cards, with Diego Simeone previously showing an interest in the 25-year-old.
