The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have reached Dubai, completed their quarantine and began training for the second half of IPL 2021, where they aim to continue their run in the first half – 5 wins in 7 matches claiming second place on the table – and win their fourth IPL title.
MS Dhoni’s side will resume the season against defending champions Mumbai Indians in the first game of the UAE leg on September 19.
But UAE, will being unenthusiastic memories for the fans as last season in the same country, CSK failed to qualify for the playoffs – for the first time in the IPL history. Now, however, they have roared back in style in India’s leg this year,
They look ready to carry on their victory march as there is no upheaval in their squad. In fact, MS Dhoni’s bowling options have increased after Josh Hazlewood confirmed his availability for the UAE leg after he had earlier pulled out from the matches in India.
This would mean that his replacement, Jason Behrendorff, will have to be released. Behrendorff had arrived in India and completed his quarantine before the tournament was suspended.
English players Moeen Ali and Sam Curran, and the South African trio of Faf du Plessis, Imran Tahir, and Lungi Ngidi, all will return to play. All of them have been pivotal in CSK’s success so far, so has been the Indian contingent.
