The remainder of the IPL 14 will begin on September 19 in the UAE. So far, several international cricketers have pulled out of the IPL for a plethora of reasons. Rajasthan Royals has got a huge blow as they’ll miss their three key players in the second leg of the IPL. Royal Challengers Banglore is another franchise that has made some big changes in their squad. So, let’s look at the list of players who are unavailable for the second leg of the IPL.
Ben Stokes (Rajasthan Royals)
Rajasthan Royals all-rounder Ben Stokes will not take part in the UAE leg of the IPL. Stokes had announced an indefinite break from cricket last month, to focus on his mental health. Stokes was a part of the Rajasthan Royals team in the first half of the IPL before he broke his finger in a match against Punjab Kings while fielding.
Jos Buttler (Rajasthan Royals)
Another big blow for Rajasthan Royals as their star batsman Jos Buttler will not be part of the remainder of IPL2021. Buttler won’t be available as he is expecting the birth of his second child during the same time period. He was the main player of the RR and was in great form during the first half of the tournament. Meanwhile, RR has signed New Zealand’s Glenn Phillips for the second phase of the IPL 2021.
Jofra Archer (Rajasthan Royals)
Jofra Archer will also miss the second phase of the IPL 2021. The right-arm pacer has been ruled out for the rest of the year due to a recurrence of a stress fracture of his right elbow. Archer had the India tour earlier this year and is also likely to miss T20 World Cup and the Ashes. He had undergone an operation in May to remove a bone fragment from his elbow.
Pat Cummins (Kolkata Knight Riders)
Pat Cummins is expecting the birth of his child during the second half of the tournament and hence, he won’t be participating in the tournament. “Unfortunately, at this stage, I probably won’t be going to the IPL,” Cummins said on his YouTube channel.
Adam Zampa (Royal Challengers Bangalore)
Australian leg-spinner Adam Zampa will not take part in the remainder of the IPL season. He did not play the first half and will skip the second half as well. Zampa has confirmed to the franchise that he will be unavailable for the remaining season. Meanwhile, Royal Challengers Bangalore signed Sri Lankan allrounder Wanindu Hasaranga as his replacement. Hasaranga has been in great touch both with the bat and ball. He was the highest wicket-taker in the India-Sri Lanka series with 10 wickets.
Jhye Richardson, Fin Allen, Daniel Sams also to miss IPL
The Australian pace duo Jhye Richardson and Riley Meredith will miss the second leg of IPL 2021. Punjab Kings (PBKS) has roped in Nathan Elis as a replacement. The New Zealand batsman Fin Allen, and pacer Scott Kuggeleign won’t be taking part in the tournament due to national duty. Kane Richardson and Daniel Sams also pulled out of the IPL 2021. RCB has signed Dushmantha Chameera as a replacement.
Tim David set to become the first Singapore international cricketer to play in IPL
RCB has picked Singapore’s Tim David as a replacement. David has played 14 T20 Internationals with 558 runs by his name at an average of 46.5 with an impressive strike rate of 158. He also has the experience of playing in the Big Bash League. David scored 279 runs at a strike rate of 153.29 for the Hobart Hurricanes in the 2020/21 Big Bash League.
In the Royal London One-Day Cup recently, he scored two hundred and a fifty scoring 340 runs in 10 matches at a strike rate of 150.44. David also has experience playing on the subcontinent wickets. In PSL 2021, he scored 180 runs at an average of 45 and a strike rate of 166.66 for Lahore Qalandars.
