IPL 2021 Playoffs: “Never Bet Against Him”- Twitter Reacts As MS Dhoni Takes Chennai Super Kings To Their 9th IPL Final
MS Dhoni scored 18 off just six balls to help Chennai Super Kings chase down 173 in the final over of the match to take the side to their ninth IPL final. Also, this was CSK’s first win against Delhi Capitals in their last five matches. CSK thus makes it to the final while DC will play the second qualifier against the winner of the Eliminator between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Set to chase 173, CSJ lost Faf Du Plessis in the very first over. Ruturaj Gaikwad continued his good form and scored 70 off 50 balls. Robin Uthappa after a few failures for CSK finally came good as he scored 63 off 44. CSK lost a few wickets quickly and it came down to 13 off the final over for the side.
Rishabh Pant gave the ball to Tom Curran with Kagiso Rabada waiting in the wings. MS Dhoni was at his very best as he finished off the game with two balls to spare.

“It was crucial innings. They were using the bigger boundary very well. I have done a lot in the tournament. We are one side that hasn’t done promotions a lot. If a Shardul or a Deepak, they can look to get a boundary from the first ball” said MSD after his match-winning knock against Delhi Capitals.
Obviously it’s very disappointing, don’t have enough words to describe how we are feeling right now. The only thing we can do is rectify our mistakes and move on to the next one. I thought that Tom bowled beautifully throughout the match, last over unfortunately went for runs. So thought the bowler who is having a great day, it’s better to use him for the last over. I thought the score was decent but they got off to a flier in the powerplay and we didn’t get enough wickets and that was the main difference. As a cricketer, we are going to rectify our mistakes, gonna learn from it and move on to the next one. Hopefully, we can win and play the final” said a dejected Rishabh Pant after Capitals lost the game.
