Harshal Patel took his maiden IPL hat-trick in the IPL against Mumbai Indians in RCB’s last game. His feat helped the side come back to winning ways after losing the first two matches of the UAE leg against KKR and CSK. Against RR as well in the ongoing match, he picked up a three-for. He finished with 3/34 as Rajasthan Royals after a good start were restricted at 149/9.

Meanwhile, ahead of the start of the game, Harshal Patel spoke to Star Sports about his hat-trick against Mumbai Indians. He took nine wickets against MI this season, making this a season to remember.

Patel said that during his hat-trick celebrations, he caused a bit of an injury to Mohammed Siraj and RCB skipper Virat Kohli. The medium-pacer also said that he enquired about Siraj’s injury post the celebrations.

Yes, Siraj’s leg is fine. That was the first thing I asked after the celebrations got over. Luckily, he is fine. During the hat-trick celebration, I scratched Virat’s thigh as well, so did quite some damage,” said Harshal Patel in a video posted on iplt20.com.

Adding that the grounds in the UAE suit his type of bowling as the wickets are on the slower side, the RCB pacer concluded by stating that when he starts his run-up, he is clear about what he wants to bowl.

“Adaptation has always been a key part of my game, I adapt well to different situations and different conditions. That is something that I pride myself on. The grounds are bigger here and the wickets are slower, it suits my type of bowling”

“My mindset hasn’t changed, my role hasn’t changed. It was just a mental tweak to adapt to the conditions. More often than not you know what deliveries to be bowling in the death overs, execution is the key. At the top of my mark I am very sure of what I want to bowl,” concluded Harshal Patel.

Patel is currently on 26 wickets and seven short of overtaking Dwayne Bravo’s tally of most wickets in an IPL season (32).
