In a boost to the bottom-placed Sunrisers Hyderabad, T Natarajan has been cleared to fly to the UAE for the second leg of the IPL 2021, which starts from September 19. The left-arm pacer underwent knee surgery in April when he was taken out of the ongoing tournament.

T Natarajan, one of the heroes of India’s triumph in Gabba earlier in the year, played two matches for SRH in the India leg of the IPL 2021 before he was sidelined due to an issue in his knee, which, it was reported then, he had been carrying since returning from Australia.

After the surgery, he trained at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) for three months. Now, he has recovered and is set to leave for Dubai with the SRH contingent on August 31.

“We’ve got the go-ahead and T Natarajan will be travelling with us to Dubai on August 31,” an SRH official told Cricbuzz.

T Natarajan rose through the ranks during the IPL 2020 in the UAE. He snapped 16 wickets in the season at an economy of 8.02. The most impressive aspect of his bowling was his pin-point yorkers – he bowled, by far, the most yorkers last season. He has a number of variations and a calm temperament – which he displayed on his maiden international tour to Australia.

He picked 6 wickets in 3 T20Is against Australia, and then three wickets in the Brisbane Test, where he was given a Test debut after being held back as a net bowler.

T Natarajan remains in India’s plans for the T20 World Cup; the remainder of the IPL 2021 games present him the perfect opportunity to showcase his fitness and make a bid for a place in the T20 World Cup in UAE.

His return would also give some encouragement to the SRH side, who are languishing at the 8th position after just one win in 7 matches. They had changed their captain mid-way – removing 2016 IPL winning skipper David Warner to Kane Williamson. SRH’s first game back will be against table-toppers Delhi Capitals in Dubai.
