IPL match preview: Delhi Capitals vs Sunrisers Hyderabad prediction, who to watch and suggested bets
The Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad are still trying to lift themselves from the bottom of the 10-team standings in the 2023 Indian Premier League.
Here's everything you need to know ahead of Saturday's clash.
Who, when, where
Delhi Capitals v Sunrisers Hyderabad, 3pm BST, Saturday 29 April 2023, Delhi
The last time Delhi and Hyderabad played each other was about a week ago. The scheduling in the 2023 IPL will put them against each other again amid a relatively quick turnaround. Let's see how this clash at the bottom of the table pans out this time. It took the Capitals six matches to get off the mark, but they have their first and second win of this season's IPL. The inclusion of fast bowler Ishant Sharma has added a fresh dynamic to the XI, particularly the bowling resources. Hyderabad will be without spinner Washington Sundar for this match and the remainder of the IPL season. He has been sidelined by injury. It's a big absence in their bowling department. Sundar offered value with the bat, too. It will be interesting to see if whoever replaces Sundar in the bowling attack comes into play amid the opening powerplay. And they will likely have pace ace Umran Malik in the attack again, too, for complementary factors.
The Capitals have an unblemished record against the Sunrisers in their last five meetings. Delhi have won all five, including last week's win in Hyderabad. Time will tell whether they can make it six in six at home.
Stars to watch
David Warner's last seven IPL innings have yielded four half-centuries. He has copped some criticism for batting too slowly, but that should change soon enough. Captain Warner would dearly love his runs to translate to more wins for Delhi. Sunrisers captain Aiden Markam might have more of a role to play with the ball in the absence of Sundar. But it's the South African star's prowess with the bat that will be in focus the most. Markram could push himself higher in the order than five.
Hyderabad and Delhi have just four wins between them this IPL season. The Capitals would do well to win a third successive match here and turn around a 2023 campaign that is really struggling to get going.
Delhi Capitals to beat Sunrisers Hyderabad
Axar Patel to be the top bowler for Delhi
Harry Brook to be the top batsman for Hyderabad
