Following a 29-16 victory over England in their Six Nations Test at the Aviva Stadium on Saturday, here are the player ratings for Ireland.

15 Hugo Keenan: Was once again safe under the high ball and collected a particularly excellent one on the attack before his game was ended by Freddie Steward’s hit. 6

14 Mack Hansen: Did pretty much everything very well and got Ireland out of some difficult situations. Shows how valuable good decision-makers in the back three can be. 8

13 Robbie Henshaw: Scored a try and defended well. Despite not having much game time, he looked sharp. 7

12 Bundee Aki: Excelled in the tighter exchanges, giving important front foot ball to his team, while he was also a rock in defence. 8

11 James Lowe: A mixed game from the wing, who did some good things but made too many mistakes with ball in hand. 5

10 Johnny Sexton (c): Kept his head when others were perhaps losing theirs in a mistake-ridden first half, and started to dictate proceedings in the second period. 8

9 Jamison Gibson-Park: Service was good and his box-kicking was generally pretty accurate. Not really at fault in their error-strewn opening period. 7

Back five show nuisance factor at breakdown

8 Caelan Doris: Wasn’t as dominant as he has been as England fronted up, but the number eight still made ground and disrupted ball at the contact area. 8

7 Josh van der Flier: A real menace for visitors at the breakdown, while he carried well and also set up Dan Sheehan’s first try with a well-timed pass. 8

6 Peter O’Mahony: The blindside produced a solid performance but it certainly wasn’t his best of an otherwise excellent Championship. 6

5 James Ryan: A fine effort to finish a superb Six Nations from the lock, who made plenty of big hits on defence. 7

4 Ryan Baird: No Tadhg Beirne? No Iain Henderson? No problem for the Irish, whose young lock displayed his team’s strength in depth with an excellent display. 8

3 Tadhg Furlong: Tried to put England’s scrum under pressure but failed to do legally. Also surprisingly had a few handling errors in an underwhelming day for the world-class tighthead. 5

2 Dan Sheehan: Utterly superb. In an otherwise average Irish performance in the first half, Sheehan was generally the one shining light. He was then even better in the second period and helped himself to two tries on the day. 9

1 Andrew Porter: Similar to Furlong, Porter had his technical issues in the scrum and conceded three penalties in total. 5

Replacements: Rob Herring bagged a try but not much else to report with most of them coming on late. 6
