Isaiah Thomas' sister killed in Washington driving accident

Isaiah Thomas might be the focal point of the Celtics now, but Jackie McMullan says Boston offered the diminutive point guard for a lottery pick last year.

The sister of Celtics star Isaiah Thomas, 22-year-old Chyna J. Thomas, died ina car crash early Saturday morning.

According to Washington state police (via Seattle TV Station KIRO7), Chyna Thomas died from the crash, which occurred at 5 a.m., after her 1998 Toyota Camry drifted off Interstate-5 in Washington, onto the shoulder, before hitting a Jersey barrier. Washington patrol stated she was not wearing a seat belt.

“All of a sudden it started to drift very casually onto the left shoulder,” State Patrol spokesman Trooper Nick King told KIRO7. “That vaulted the vehicle head-on into the sign post,” King said.

The car came to rest against a large metal pole on the shoulder of the freeway. The Celtics confirmed the news Saturday, saying "We are terribly saddened by the tragic loss of Chyna Thomas. The thoughts and prayers of the entire Celtics organization are with Isaiah and his family."

Isaiah Thomas and the top-seed Celtics will begin their playoff run against the Bulls on Sunday.
