Isaiah Thomas reportedly signs 10-day contract with Lakers after excellent G League game
The Los Angeles Lakers are bringing back guard Isaiah Thomas to cover their COVID-19 absences.
Thomas signed a 10-day contract with the team under the hardship exemption on Friday afternoon, just in time for Thomas to take the court with the Lakers against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday night.
Isaiah Thomas will be in the Lakers lineup tonight and wearing No. 31, according to the team. They signed him to a 10-day contract this afternoon.

Thomas, 32, played three games with the New Orleans Pelicans last season. He joined the Denver Nuggets' G League affiliate Monday, and went off for 42 points in his debut Wednesday.
The Lakers placed Dwight Howard, Malik Monk and Talen Horton-Tucker in the NBA's health and safety protocols Tuesday. The team reportedly placed Russell Westbrook and Avery Bradley in those protocols Thursday, which would qualify the team for the hardship exemption.
The Lakers have five players in Covid protocols now, including Westbrook, Bradley, Malik Monk, Dwight Howard and Talen Horton-Tucker. The Lakers play Minnesota on Friday and Chicago on Sunday.

In his 10 seasons in the NBA, Thomas made two All-Star teams and one All-NBA team. His most successful seasons came with the Boston Celtics, where he averaged 24.7 points and six rebounds per game.
Thomas was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers for the 2017-18 season. Cleveland shipped Thomas to the Lakers after just 15 games. Thomas appeared in 17 games with the Lakers that season, averaging 15.6 points. He played 12 games with the Nuggets in 2018-19, 40 games with the Washington Wizards in 2019-20 and three games with the Pelicans last season.
