Isle of Wight football decimated by weather with pitches unplayable TODAY
ALL three Wessex League matches for Isle of Wight clubs — all due to play at home — have been called off due to waterlogged pitches.
The appalling wet weather across the Isle of Wight the past two days have put paid to any Wessex League football this afternoon (Saturday).
The plug was pulled on the matches between Cowes Sports and Stoneham (Premier), East Cowes Vics v Verwood, and Newport v Whitchurch United (Division 1) before 10am, to give all three travelling teams as much advance notice as possible.
The Isle of Wight League programme has also been decimated by the weather.
More to follow.
Currently, only two games have survived the weather — the Island League Division 1 game between Vectis and Northwood St Johns, at Cowes Enterprise College's artificial pitch, and the Combination 1 fixture between ECS Reserves and Bembridge Reserves.
