Manchester United left the Manchester Derby having been handed a hefty 3-0 defeat on home soil by the reigning Premier League champions. Manchester City stole the show with Erling Haaland and Phil Foden getting on the scoresheet to ensure bragging rights went their way.

There were plenty of takeaways to discuss after the match, and the Sky Sports Super Sunday pundits got stuck in. While there was a lot of praise for Pep Guardiola and his players, Erik ten Hag’s side came under fire.

Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville had a back-and-forth over United’s current situation, before the former Liverpool defender stated he felt the decision to sign Casemiro was ‘one of the worst decisions’ the club has made recently. The Brazilian has missed the last two league games for the Reds due to injury, but Carragher had questions over the club’s transfer decisions as a whole.

“I know Casemiro did well at times last season but signing him and Christian Eriksen was not something a top football in their position should be doing,” he said in the Sky Sports studio. “They’re at the end of their careers and they’ve had to replace them already with Mason Mount and Sofyan Amrabat, and we’re questioning whether they’re good enough. So 12 months later, they’re replacing players they bought 12 months before, that’s just not joined up thinking.”

Carragher then addressed Bruno Fernandes and stated he believes the Portugal international should not be wearing the captain’s armband, which club icon Roy Keane agreed with.

“After today, I would definitely take the captaincy off him, 100 percent” Keane said. “I know it’s a big decision but Fernandes is not captain material. I think he’s a talented player but what I saw today with him again — his whinging, his moaning, his throwing his arms up in the air constantly, it really isn’t acceptable.

“After what we saw today, I’m thinking I would take that off him. Fernandes is a brilliant footballer but in terms of captain material, he’s the opposite to what I would want in a captain.”
