Italy booked their place in the final of Euro 2020 by beating Spain in the semi-finals at Wembley.

Simon Collings was at Wembley to run the rule over Italy…

Gianluigi Donnarumma 7

A calm and composing presence at the back. Made a good save to deny Dani Olmo in the first half.

Giovanni Di Lorenzo 6

Solid game from the full-back. Didn’t get forward as much as Emerson, but defensively he did his job well.

Leonardo Bonucci 7

Struggled with Spain’s lively forwards at times, whose movement was very effective and difficult to manage, but dug in well.

Giorgio Chiellini 7

Not a vintage display by the centre-back’s high Spaniards, but still decent. Will be annoyed his club team-mate, Alvaro Morata, scored against him.

Emerson Palmieri 7

Actually did a decent job at filling in for the injured Leonardo Spinazzola. Got forward when he could and hit the post with an effort.

Nicola Barella 7

Probably the best of Italy’s midfield three. Looked dangerous when he broke from midfield and got forward.

Jorginho 7

Tried to replicate Sergio Busquets job of screening the defence. Solid performance, if nothing to write home about.

Marco Verratti 6

Worked hard but was undeniable out shone by the Spain midfield. Taken off with around 15 minutes to go.

Federico Chiesa 8 | Star man

Ran and worked his socks off all night. Got his just rewards by scoring a brilliant goal that he wrapped into the far corner.

Ciro Immobile 6

Had a quiet night by his standards. Couldn’t get into the game and fed off scraps. Taken off after an hour.

Lorenzo Insigne 6

Starved of the ball so couldn’t make much of an impact. Worked hard for the team defensively, though, and pressed well.

Came on and looked lively. Caused a few problems down the right.

Thrown on upfront but barely had a kick.
