Jacksonville girls move to 7-0 in district after defeating Rusk, 46-32

Jan. 27—Kiah Cox and Tia Fuller dropped in 13 points apiece to help guide Jacksonville to a 46-32 triumph over Rusk in a District 18-4A fray that was played at John Alexander Gymnasium Friday night.

While Cox and Fuller were credited with canning a big chunk of the Fightin' Maidens' points, Jacksonville's non-starters also played a big part in enabling the Maidens to come away with the victory.

"Our reserves got things going with their energy and enthusiasm at a time that we really needed it," Jacksonville head girl's basketball coach, Sharae Schmitt said. "They have been doing that all year."

The win was Jacksonville's seventh straight.

At 6:15 p.m. Tuesday Jacksonville (24-8, 7-0) will visit Bullard while the Lady Eagles (0-7 in district) return home to face Palestine.

Jacksonville is in first place in the conference standings while Bullard is in third place.
