Foxx and his daughter took Season 6 off after the actor was hospitalized in April of 2023 for a mystery illness that left him unable to walk. Nick Cannon took over the show’s hosting reins during his absence.

“Jamie and Corinne are the heart and soul of Beat Shazam,” Fox Entertainment’s President of Unscripted Entertainment Allison Wallach said in a statement. “As our undeniably dynamic father-daughter hosting team, they bring a relationship like no other to a show like no other, and it’s wonderful having them back on set this season.”

Regarding the undisclosed nature of his hospitalization, Foxx said on Sunday night at the African American Film Critics Association Awards that he is “going to tell you what happened, but I gotta do it in my way. I gotta do it in a funny way. I’m going to be on stage.”

Beat Shazam is an interactive game show that pits teams of two against the clock and each other, as they attempt to identify the biggest hit songs of all time. “In the end, the team with the most money banked will outlast the competition and go against Shazam, the world’s most popular song identification app, for the chance to win $1 million dollars,” according to its official description.
