Hull have confirmed that Jake Connor is set to miss between 1o to 12 weeks of action due to injury.

The 27-year-old full-back suffered a medial ligament injury during the club’s defeat to Wakefield on Sunday.

He left the field with the injury midway through the second half, and didn’t return to action.

Head coach Brett Hodgson said: “Jake has sustained a grade two medial ligament strain. It is going to leave him sidelined for up to three months.

“Thankfully the injury doesn’t require surgery, so Jake will begin his rehab immediately.

“We’re thankful that he’ll potentially get the chance to feature again at the back end of the season for us.

It also means that Connor will miss out on playing against England for Combined Nations All Stars for their mid-season international test. Head coach Ellery Hanley had named Connor in his squad earlier in April. They are set to face Shaun Wane’s men on Saturday, June 18, at Halliwell Jones Stadium.

Jake Connor injury opens opportunity for Shaul

Injury to Connor opens up an opportunity to team-mate Jamie Shaul. The 29-year-old is expected to fill the void left in the coming weeks.

“Jamie has got the opportunity now to step forward and show the class he possesses,” Hodgson added.

“He, and the other players around him, have got the quality to help us move forward and continue progressing as a group over the coming months.”

Elsewhere, both Ligi Sao and Carlos Tuimavave are expected to be available for selection for the club’s trip to face Catalans. The pair missed out on last weekend’s match against Wakefield.

Ben McNamara meanwhile is still progressing with his back injury, and expected to return to action in three weeks time.
