James Neesham Reveals His Method Of Dealing With Trolls On Twitter

New Zealand all-rounder James Neesham is an entertainer on and off the field. When he’s not pulverizing the cricket ball on the ground, he’s engaging in social media banter with fans and trolls alike.

Certain former cricketers like Wasim Jaffer and Michael Vaughan have their own little banter session now and then. It has become a common ground for trolls to join in during these conversations.

However, certain such banter crosses the invisible line and even the light-hearted nature of Neesham can’t tolerate it. In a series of tweets, Neesham hilariously explains how he deals with such people in his inimitable style.

The sequence of events that led to James Neesham’s explanation

The conversation started off when Neesham commented on an ESPNcricinfo tweet of Jonny Bairstow. The English cricketer is seen holding a balloon ahead of Day 4 of the England-India Test at the Headingley. A troll responded to Neesham’s comment, and more tweets ensued.

In further response to Neesham, a user asked “Why don’t you block those who troll you?” The Kiwi player then posted a screenshot of his account which showed the number of blocked and muted accounts. There were as many as 515 accounts that were blocked, while a staggering 1447 accounts were muted.

Another Twitterati member then questioned how he differentiates between the ones that get muted and the ones that get blocked. Neesham mentioned that he does it based on the amount of ‘hatred’ he has for a particular user.

The all-rounder also revealed that he has muted quite a few words, with one user speculating that ‘Super Over’ could be one of the blocked words. New Zealand had lost to England in the 2019 ODI World Cup after falling short in the super over.

James Neesham will next be seen representing the Black Caps during their tour of Bangladesh which comprises of 5 T20I’s starting next month.

Following the tour, he will participate in the second leg of the IPL 2021 to be held in the UAE starting on September 19. He was bought by Mumbai Indians for 50 lakhs in the 2021 auction.
