Jamie Redknapp labelled Arsenal “petulant” and chastised their immaturity following their 3-0 humbling at Tottenham, while their injury concerns were also noted.

Arsenal fell to their local rivals on Thursday night to give Spurs renewed hope of snatching fourth spot. Tottenham now sit just one point behind the Gunners and have the kinder fixtures remaining on paper.

Indeed, Tottenham host Burnley on Sunday before travelling to Norwich on final day. The Canaries – who are already relegated – were thumped 4-0 by West Ham last time out.

Arsenal, meanwhile, must make the long trip to the North East when squaring off with Newcastle on Monday. Their final fixture is home to Everton, who may yet need a positive result to guarantee their Premier League safety.

Speaking on Sky Sports in the aftermath of the 3-0 Tottenham win, Redknapp picked the bones out of a sorry Arsenal display.

But first, the pundit ran the rule over the top four race as it stands, and picked out a poignant concern for Arsenal.

“It’s a difficult one, Arsenal know what they’ve got to do,” said Redknapp. “If they go to Newcastle and win and beat Everton, they get Champions League.

“Spurs, on the other hand, of course they’ve got much better fixtures. You’d rather play Burnley at home, I know they’re fighting for their lives and Norwich are down.

“It does feel that you’d rather have Spurs’ fixtures, but I wouldn’t mind being in Arsenal’s shoes.

“You know what you’ve got to do, you’ve got to go Newcastle, a Monday night. The atmosphere’s going to be tough. The other problem Arsenal have got is injuries.

“It looks like Gabriel’s got an injury, you obviously haven’t got Rob Holding, Tierney’s out injured. Your back four is pretty much dismantled, but it’s still all to play for.”

The occasion got to Arsenal – Redknapp

When assessing Arsenal’s display that included Rob Holding seeing red for repeatedly fouling Son Heung-min, Redknapp took aim.

“Arsenal have got to pick themselves up because tonight, there was a little bit of an immaturity about their game,” he added. “They were petulant, I didn’t like the way they played.

“I think the occasion got to them. Spurs, on the other hand, were like wily old-timers. They knew exactly what they had to do, they were street-smart, managed the game well.”

Mikel Arteta received criticism in the Sky studio for not substituting Ben White on immediately after Holding’s red card. Spurs doubled their advantage through Harry Kane from a corner while Arsenal were a defender light.

Insisting their was a gulf between the two men on the sideline too, Redknapp concluded: “That reflected in the managers as well, Antonio Conte got everything right tonight.”
