Jamie Vardy wants a British Heritage plaque in his kitchen to mark the spot where Leicester’s title party started

Jamie Vardy reportedly wants an English Heritage blue plaque installed in his kitchen to mark the spot where Leicester City celebrated their shock Premier League title victory.

Blue plaques are most commonly used as historical markers and Vardy is said to be open to the commemoration inside his home after the Foxes triumphed against the odds to win the top flight title for the first time in their history.

Leicester's players watched on in Vardy's kitchen as Tottenham drew 2-2 with Chelsea to crown them champions, and footage soon went viral as their celebrations erupted.

But is a 5000-1 shot coming true deserving of a blue plaque? According to the Sun, Vardy does.

The blue plaque is a means of linking people of the past with the building's of the present. Traditionally these are reserved for significant residents who have been deceased for 20 years or more, or passed the centenary of their birth.

But Leicester's cause may still qualify; a small number have been erected to pay tribute to memorable events which took place at specific location rather than the famous person who lived there.

“They saw history being made in that exact spot and think it would be a great place for a plaque," a source told the Sun.

“What happened must go down as one of football’s greatest ever feats.

"If that doesn’t deserve a plaque, what does?”
