If you had great size, speed and athleticism, you’d be excited to play in your first game with one of the best in the game in Aaron Rodgers, right?

If the sky is blue and bacon is delicious, you bet you’d be excited for your opportunity to play. Tight end Jared Cook is excited to get on the field with Rodgers to give the Green Bay Packers a new dimension to its passing game.

The pair will get the first game action this week as the Packers travel to San Francisco for Friday night’s game.

“It’s going to be a good test to see how he runs the offense,” Cook said about Friday’s game, via Packers.com. “How he calls the plays and for me to keep up. You’re the new kid on the block so you want to make sure that you’re pulling your weight and you’re doing what needs to be done to help make this team successful.”

Cook should be excited to take the field with Rodgers and with his new team that has a legitimate shot at making a run for the Super Bowl this year. Since getting drafted by the Tennessee Titans in 2009, Cook hasn’t had a quarterback that can get him the ball.

Vince Young, Kerry Collins, Matt Hasselbeck, Jake Locker, Sam Bradford, A.J. Feeley, Kellen Clemens, Austin Davis, Shaun Hill, Nick Foles, Case Keenum and Sean Mannion are all quarterbacks that have thrown the ball to Cook. There are a few recognizable names, but nothing to really get excited about.

Rodgers has been one of the best in the league since he began starting in 2008. Since then, Rodgers has earned five Pro Bowls, two All-Pro selections, two MVPs, AP Athlete of the Year and a Super Bowl MVP trophy to match his Super Bowl Ring.

Rodgers also has accuracy that is seen in only the elite quarterbacks of the league. His placement is a thing of beauty. If you don’t believe me, just look at his highlights and you’ll be amazed at some of the throws he has made in his career. At 32-years-old, there remain many years of success with the Packers.

I originally thought that Cook would be a bust since he hasn’t produced much in his seven-year career. Cook hasn’t had a quarterback like Rodgers in his career and that will make the difference.

Cook has the speed to get past linebackers and make his way up field. He also possesses the athletic ability and height to jump over just about any member of the secondary. I’m looking for Cook and Rodgers to have a special year.

I have so much confidence in the pair that I have them my fantasy football team.
