Jeffrey Schlupp pictured checking in at Celtic as only deadline day addition prepares for debut
Jeffrey Schlupp has touched down in Glasgow as he prepares to begin life at Celtic.
The versatile German-born player was the only deadline day addition at Parkhead as fans were left disappointed after attempts to try to land a replacement for Kyogo Furuhashi came to nothing. Arsenal remained steadfast in their assertion that Kieran Tierney wouldn't be coming home until the summer and with Alex Valle allowed to return to Barcelona before sealing a switch to Como, that left Brendan Rodgers short at left-back.
Greg Taylor is the only senior one on the books and his contract is up in the summer. It looks likely that the Scotland international will be moving on. Until then though, Rodgers needs cover and Schlupp offers that in several positions, including on the left hand side of defence.
The new man wasn't for saying much as he made his way out of Glasgow airport. Celtic host Dundee on Wednesday night and there's a chance he could be in the squad, but a place on the bench is probably the best he can hope for.
Schlupp hasn't started a game for Crystal Palace since January 2023 and most of his sub appearances for the Eagles have been for 15 minutes of less. So he'll need time to get up to speed before hes' ready to really deputise for Taylor.
