Jefte Rangers lowdown from insider as left-back tipped to be Real Madrid star of the future

Jefte has been tipped as a Real Madrid star of the future after completing his move to Rangers.

Portuguese winger Dalcio, who was briefly on loan at Gers from Benfica in 2017, was a teammate of the Brazilian left-back's at APOEL last season. Jefte has now signed up at Ibrox after the Light Blues failed in a bid to sign him in January but returned to the table at the next opportunity.

Now, the man who knows both player and club has been outlining his credentials. Dalcio says Jefte will bring the attacking qualities of James Tavernier on the other side and expects him to go on and have a massive career beyond Rangers in the future.

He told the Sunday Mail: “Jefte’s a very good player, really offensive. He’ll bring speed and goals to Rangers. And he’s young so he’ll learn. He’s still developing and Rangers can bring the best out of him. He will improve at Ibrox. He’s a good player now but has so much potential to get better. He came to APOEL as a young player and was thrown straight into a top league.

“Of course, for the first three or four months it was difficult for him as he adapted. But, after that, he was an amazing left-back for us. Rangers aren’t paying a lot of money for Jefte now. But in the future he can be anything he wants to be. Everything depends on Jefte himself. If he works hard and wants it – and everyone said this about him at APOEL – he could play for Real Madrid in the future.

“That’s the potential he has and I’m sure you’ll see that in Scotland. He’s TOO fast. It’s unbelievable. He has a really good left-foot and likes to take corners and free-kicks. He’s just like Tavernier at Rangers now. Jefte likes to get into the box and score, even from left-back.

"I’ve told him he must learn more about the defensive side of the game. And he’ll need that because the Scottish league is strong. You have to be focused there to defend, as well as attack.”
