Jeremie Frimpong sends Liverpool transfer message as Arne Slot handed huge £40m January update
Arne Slot may look to bolster his Liverpool squad in the January transfer window having only made one new signing this past summer. Despite that, and new arrival Federico Chiesa barely featuring, the Reds have been in impeccable form since the 2024/25 campaign began with Slot's side comfortably top of the Premier League table.
Given the options at his disposal and the form of several players, it is not exactly clear where Liverpool need to recruit but the last seven days may have highlighted that. Plaguing injury issues for Alisson may make signing a replacement the priority, but a deal for Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia has already been agreed.
Instead, there appears an issue at left-back with Slot having gone between Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas, and based on their performance levels, it's not entirely clear which player is first-choice.

The same could be said in attack with Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo often interchanging, however both are performing at a very high level. Elsewhere, Trent Alexander-Arnold had started every Premier League game prior to his injury, but recent displays from Conor Bradley could change things.
The 26-year-old England international is out of contract next summer and thus his future is very uncertain. If he does depart Anfield, Bayer Leverkusen's Jeremie Frimpong appears high up the list with German outlet Bild reporting he has been identified as a potential Alexander-Arnold replacement.
On the opposite flank, with Roberton and Tsimikas both failing to nail down that role, Slot could turn to January in order to sign a new left-back. Bournemouth's Milos Kerkez has been linked and his goal on Saturday against Wolves has shown exactly what he is capable of going forward.
The Cherries brought him from AZ Alkmaar in the summer of 2023 for just £15million and given his form since arriving on the south coast, £40million is believed to be their asking price for the defender with Chelsea also interested.
Like Kerkez, Frimpong also found the back of the net over the weekend as he notched just two minutes into Leverkusen's Bundesliga win over Union Berlin with that likely to please Slot given what he would demand in the attacking third for his full-backs.
