Jerry Springer, Julian Sands, Al Brown Among Those Not Included in Emmy Awards 2023 In Memoriam Segment

Stars who died in the past year were honored during the Emmys In Memoriam segment on Monday night

Jerry Springer, Julian Sands and Al Brown are among the late celebrities who weren’t included in the Emmy Awards 2023 In Memoriam segment this year.

The segment, which honors TV personalities who have died in the past year, saw stars such as Stephen "Twitch" Boss, Suzanne Somers, Barbara Walters, Norman Lear and Matthew Perry honored.

However, Springer, Sands and Brown were noticeably absent from the segment at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on Monday night.

Other stars that weren’t mentioned in the tribute include Richard Moll, Ryan O’Neal, Tom Wilkinson, Tom SizemoreCharles Kimbrough, Lisa Loring and Raquel Welch.

“Tonight as we remember the legends of our industry we lost this past year, we celebrate their lives and legacy and the joy they brought to us,” said Sally Struthers as she and her former All in the Family costar Rob Reiner introduced the In Memoriam segment.

"We were part of a very unique family, not just the bunkers, but Norman Lear's extended family,” they added, paying tribute to Lear, who died last month at the age of 101

“Over the decades, Norman brought us together and he created groundbreaking television shows that depicted real people,” Reiner said of Lear. “Made us laugh, made us think, made us feel.”

Following Reiner and Struthers' speech, Charlie Puth and The War and Treaty gave a moving performance of Puth's 2015 hit song “See You Again” and The RembrandtsFriends theme song, “I'll Be There for You,” paying tribute to Perry, who died in October 2023 at age 54.

Other stars who were included in the In Memoriam included Treat Williams, Angus Cloud, Kirstie Alley, Harry Belafonte, Leslie Jordan, Ron Cephas Jones, Lance Reddick, Alan Arkin, Andre Braugher, Jim Brown, Bob Barker, Angela Lansbury and Paul Reubens.
