Drama Missing You (5×60 mins) tells the story of detective Kat Donovan who stumbles across her estranged fiancé on a dating app, forcing her to delve back into the mystery surrounding her father’s murder.

The official synopsis reads: “Eleven years ago Detective Kat Donovan’s fiancé Josh – the love of her life – disappeared and she’s never heard from him since. Now, swiping profiles on a dating app, she suddenly sees his face and her world explodes all over again. Josh’s reappearance will force her to dive back into the mystery surrounding her father’s murder and uncover long-buried secrets from her past.”

In keeping with the streamer’s previous Harlan Coben adaptations, Missing You relocates the story from the U.S. to the UK. Filming is underway in and around Manchester in the North West of England.

As we previously revealed, Quay Street Productions, the ITV Studios-backed production outfit founded by Nicola Shindler, is producing after recently shepherding the streamer’s hit Coben adaptation Fool Me Once. Coben will serve as executive producer through his company Final Twist Productions.

Victoria Asare-Archer, who wrote two episodes of Coben’s Stay Close for Netflix in 2021, is writer. The series will be directed by Sean Spencer, with Isher Sahota serving as second director. Executive producers are Coben, Shindler, Richard Fee, Asare-Archer, and Danny Brocklehurst. Guy Hescott is the producer.

Missing You, and the streamer’s upcoming adaptation of Run Away, will be the ninth and tenth Coben projects produced under Netflix’s fruitful partnership with the author, who has sold more than 80M books worldwide.

Fool Me Once, which premiered in January, has amassed 94M views making it one of Netflix’s top ten most popular English language TV shows to date.

Nicola Shindler and Richard Fee said: “We’re delighted to have Victoria Asare-Archer adapting Harlan’s brilliant book for Netflix. Missing You is a thrilling ride with a huge heart and we have a wonderful cast to bring it to life.”

Victoria Asare-Archer added: “Kat Donovan was a thrill to write – she’s such a brilliantly messy, complicated woman. I’m really excited that we have a hugely talented ensemble cast on board – it’s a dream! I can’t wait to see them dive into Harlan’s world.”
