Jimmy Bell disciple who Rangers mercilessly sacked makes under the radar return and he's told 'you've been missed'
Kitman Jim McAllister was devastated when Rangers sacked him in 2023 - and had no plans to return to Ibrox any time soon.
But he was spotted back for the first time this weekend and got a hero's welcome from Leon Balogun, who told him he's been 'missed'. McAllister, the man who took over from Jimmy Bell after the iconic kitman's sad passing, was let go by the club under James Bisgrove's leadership last year.
It all got a little messy - Record Sport understand it went to an employment tribunal, where the Ibrox club were found in breach of contract and it was deemed an 'unfair dismissal'. They were ordered to pay McAllister, now in Saudi Arabia working with Steven Gerrard again, almost £13,000 as a result. We found then that McAllister was 'devastated' at his exit, and as of October this year, he had no plans to return.
After McAllister's exit, Bell's widow, Janice, feeling disappointment and disgust at how the man who replaced her late husband was treated, gutted the Ibrox kit room of its historic artefacts which still belonged to the man who gave the club a lifetime of service. And it's perhaps one of the more damning indictments of the legacy left behind by Bisgrove, who set off for Saudi Arabia not long after McAllister was emptied.
McAllister however was back at Ibrox as Rangers took on Hearts this weekend. His return to the club was revealed on Instagram by Balogun, who knew him well during his own first spell at the club. Sharing a snap of the two together, he wrote: "Great to have you back home last night, you are missed."
A lifelong Ibrox diehard, who spent the bulk of his career in the lower leagues with Morton, Dundee and Hamilton, McAllister's return for a visit was perhaps facilitated by the upcoming international break. Now under Gerrard's employ at Al-Ettifaq, they signed off for the break with a 3-1 defeat to Al-Hilal on Friday, and don't have a game now until November 24 - giving him the window for a trip back home.
