Jimmy Bullard confesses Celtic transfer regret as he tells how his DAD wrecked move

Jimmy Bullard has revealed how it was his DAD who wrecked what would have been a dream move to Celtic.

The former Hull City and Wigan midfielder had the opportunity to move to Parkhead back in 2012 under Neil Lennon who he claims laid it on thick in a bid to convince him to move north of the border. It was a move Bullard was seriously considering when he and his old man travelled to see the facilities and speak with the board about a financial package.

According to the Bulldog on Open Goal, his dad heard that another Hoops star man was on a heftier salary than his son would've earned and that was a sticking point.

So when it came to doing a deal, it collapsed in the end. It remains a regret for the now-45-year-old who always wished he'd have played for a "huge club" during his career.

"Were you both there when I had that chance?" Bullard asked Si Ferry and Paul Slane on their YouTube channel when discussing his failed switch. "That deal came, they wanted to do a loan deal and my dad came on board to help me out and he pretty much f***ed the deal up, to be honest.

"He's murder the old man. We went up there and, in a loan deal, we didn't really know that Hull had paid half and Celtic would pay half. But we went up there and the old man went, 'Woah, woah, woah,' because they sold a dream to us, Lenny sold a dream. Talked about the keeper who was on this and that. They were gonna give me the 10 jersey, they put it on me heavy and my dad says, 'If you're paying the keeper that, why is Jim getting this? You don't give him the number 10 to get less than the keeper.'

"'Let me do a deal with you and I'll go back to Hull and do a deal with them'. Lenny was like, 'I don't think it works like that Mr Bullard'. Anyway, the old man asked for like and the director fell off his chair. I asked for big chunks, it didn't happen but I should've gone. I never played for a huge club.

"I played for some good football clubs but never for that huge club we always wanted to play for. It would've been... I should've done it. The missus was pregnant at the time, there's a few things. I always like to use the money story but it wasn't the crux of it, there were a few things."
