Jimmy Garoppolo started as the San Francisco 49ers beat the Arizona Cardinals 28-25 to reach the halfway stage of the NFC West season undefeated.

Garoppolo threw for 317 yards and four touchdowns as the 49ers won their eight game in a row to stay top of the standings.

San Francisco trailed 7-0 in the game, but fought back with three touchdowns to take a 21-7 half time lead.

The Cardinals responded, keeping the game close with five minutes to go in the fourth quarter, as Andy Isabella sprinted for an 88-yard touchdown. 28-25 the score.

But the 49ers managed the final minutes of the game well and were able to run out the clock to end Arizona's comeback.

Garoppolo completed 28 of 37 throws including one for a 30 yard touchdown, and after the game the 27-year-old explained that his side are the full package.

The quarterback told reporters: “Our team has done a good job of winning in different ways this year.

“Whether it's offense, special teams, defence or mixing and matching all of them. That's how you create a good football team.

“You're not relying on one part and everyone's playing tomorrow. Complimentary football. That's where we're at right now.”

Next up for San Francisco is Seattle on November 11th, while Arizona travel to Tampa Bay a day before.
