A report has revealed how much Joao Palhinha will earn at Fulham, should the Cottagers complete his signing from Sporting Lisbon.

The central midfielder made 38 appearances for Sporting last season, helping them to win the Portuguese league cup and finish second in the Primeira Liga. He is likely to leave Sporting this summer and a Premier League move beckons.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Fulham agreed a deal with the Portuguese club for Palhinha on June 16.

Marco Silva’s side will pay an initial £15.3million to give the 26-year-old his first stint outside of Portugal.

Sport Witness provide an update on the potential move, while citing Portuguese newspaper A Bola.

The report claims Fulham sorted out personal terms with Palhinha on Friday (June 24).

The move has been delayed by problems involving agents and how much commission they will get. But these issues ‘will be overcome’, which is a big boost for Fulham.

Palhinha, who has won 14 caps for Portugal, will travel to England in the next few days to sign his Fulham contract.

The report then provides insight into how much Palhinha will earn while at Craven Cottage.

His contract will last four years, keeping him at Fulham until June 2026. He will take home around £2.14million a year, which works out at roughly £41,200 per week.

While this isn’t much in comparison with the Prem’s top stars, Palhinha will still double his Sporting wage when he moves to England.

The star will bolster Fulham’s midfield options ahead of their return to the Premier League. Silva already has the likes of Tom Cairney, Harrison Reed and Nathaniel Chalobah available in midfield, but Palhinha should go straight into the starting eleven given his pedigree.

Wolves have been pursuing the Sporting man’s signature, but they seem to have lost out. It is a transfer coup for Fulham, as Palhinha has experience of winning trophies and playing in the Champions League.

Palhinha could come up against Sporting team-mate Matheus Nunes in the Prem next season. That’s because Newcastle and Wolves are targeting the Brazil-born 23-year-old.

Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest have made a bid for Fulham-linked Neco Williams, as per the Daily Mail.
