Joe Joyce is convinced he is ready to challenge for world titles after his fourth-round knockout win over Christian Hammer on Saturday night.

The 36-year-old heavyweight overcame Germany's Hammer at Wembley Arena on Saturday night to remain the No.1 WBO contender, putting him in contention to face the winner of Anthony Johsua vs Oleksandr Usyk.

Joyce had been out of the ring for a year after suffering a broken wrist, but the 'Juggernaut' was back to his best against Hammer, relentlessly pressing his opposition before stopping him inside four rounds. Not afraid to trade blows, Joyce advanced and struck Hammer with multiple combinations, including a number of hooks and uppercuts. Hammer was able to reply with single shots, but Joyce continued his assault, landing body shots in the third round to weaken his opponent, before dropping him to the canvas twice in the fourth with more body shots.

"He was tough, he was game and he hit me with some good shots early on," Joyce said post-fight. "Especially because I haven't fought for so long I have to warm into the fight.

"What a performance, I enjoyed it so much," he added. "I'm top level - ready for the world stage. "I'm ready for all comers and I'm looking to fight the winner of AJ-Usyk, maybe Tyson Fury. I'm at that level."

Joyce came close to making a fight with former champion Joseph Parker, although talks stalled in the lead-up to Saturday's clash. Now with his eyes set on challenging for a title, Joyce will be keenly awaiting the winner of AJ vs Usyk in August, while also keeping up to date with Tyson Fury's plans.
