John Bateman faces uncertain future with NRL move looking set to collapse
Manly is on the verge of ending their interest in back-rower John Bateman as his future remains in doubt. Bateman, who appears destined to leave Wests Tigers after a fallout with Benji Marshall, had attracted interest from the Sea Eagles heading into 2025.
Bateman is unwanted by the Tigers, who were willing to pay Manly about $300,000 a season to take Bateman. However, the chances of him heading to the club are dwindling due to salary cap pressures, which would likely see them have to move players on to facilitate a move.
According to the Daily Telegraph, Bateman’s manager Isaac Moses has been promoting his client to rival clubs but there hasn't been a huge amount of interest at this point for the 31-year-old England international.

He ended the season in Super League with Warrington Wolves, playing for Sam Burgess' side as they chased a Grand Final appearance. He is still in the UK as it stands but is expected to return down under in the new year once he's had his post-season break.
The report claims that Bateman does have interest from two other clubs, though nothing has materialised at this point in time.
