Jon Jones Remains in Custody Without Bail, Pending Thursday Hearing
Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones remained in custody without bail at the Bernalillo County Metropolitan Detention Center on Wednesday, following his recent arrest for a possible probation violation.
Jones turned himself in to authorities in Albuquerque, N.M., Tuesday morning after a judge issued a warrant for his arrest due to a possible probation violation. Jones is on probation in New Mexico due to a felony hit-and-run charge stemming from a car accident in April of 2015. The possible violation of that probation stems from a recent traffic stop, where Jones was issued five citations, including one for drag racing.

Although he is scheduled to rematch current light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier at UFC 197 on April 23 in Las Vegas, Jones will remain in custody at least until Thursday morning, when he goes before a judge to discuss the terms for a possible release, according to MMAFighting.com.
The recent traffic stop and citations follow a Jan. 31 incident, when Jones was pulled over for driving 75 miles per hour in a 35-mile-per-hour zone. He was not ticketed for speeding or reckless driving, but had to appear in court to provide proof of a driver's license, insurance, and registration, which he did.
The March 24 stop, when he was issued the drag racing citation, stirred a tremendous amount of controversy due to a heated exchange between Jones and the issuing officer, which was caught on the officer's bodycam video and released to the public. The video can be seen below.
The status of Jones' fight with Cormier currently remains in limbo, pending this latest incident.
“UFC is aware that Jon Jones turned himself into the Albuquerque Police Department (Tuesday) morning for a potential probation violation stemming from a traffic stop last week,” UFC officials told MMAWeekly.com. “UFC has been in touch with Jones’ legal team and will have no further comment until the organization has had appropriate time to gather necessary information.”
