Jon Jones Takes Plea Deal in Drag Racing Case
Interim UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones, already on probation for a felony hit-and-run case, accepted a plea deal in Albuquerque Metropolitan Court on Thursday.
Jones was pulled over by Albuquerque, N.M. police on March 24 and issued five citations. The citations included Unlawful Drag Racing and Other Competitive Racing, Unlawful Exhibition Driving, Unlawful Use of Modification of Exhaust System, Failure to Maintain Traffic Lane, and Improper Display of Registration Plate.
The traffic stop was contentious, as Jones exchanged words with the officer, which was all caught on the officer's body-cam video. Jones was arrested due to the citations constituting a violation of his probation.

In Thursday's plea deal, first reported by TMZ Sports and later confirmed by the court, pleaded guilty to Unlawful Use of Modification of Exhaust System and Improper Display of Registration Plate. The other charges were thrown out.
In exchange for his guilty plea to those two charges, Jones was ordered to complete 60 hours of community service and to complete an aggressive driving course. If Jones doesn't complete the terms of his sentence, he faces up to 90 days in jail.
Beyond the traffic case in Albuquerque, Jones still has to answer to the United States Anti-Doping Agency and the Nevada Athletic Commission for a failed drug test that knocked him out of the UFC 200 main event.
