Jordan Abdull has discussed with Love Rugby League what he must do to catch England boss Shaun Wane’s attention ahead of the Rugby League World Cup.
The half-back made his debut against France at the end of last season in Perpignan. He kicked three goals to help towards a 30-10 victory at Stade Gilbert Brutus.
He was left out of the recent squad announcement made by coach Wane. However, he will be keeping one eye on the World Cup tournament at the end of the season.
His influential performance in the Hull derby on Good Friday would have no doubt caught the attention of the selectors.
Abdull will be hoping to make it three wins on the bounce on Easter Monday as Tony Smith’s side travel to Toulouse.
Another impressive performance could boost Abdull’s chances even more, who has discussed what he needs to do to earn a second call-up.
Jordan Abdull on England chances
He told Love Rugby League: “I think the easiest way to say it is just to play well every week. I know it’s easier said than done. But it’s not necessarily about doing 100 things right every game, but it’s being consistent in the things that you do.
“I think being part of an international team, there’s going to be quality everywhere. So, you don’t have to do everything, but you need to do the little things right.
“And that’s something that I am trying to do. I started the season a little bit slow. But hopefully now I can time my run right and give Shaun a real food for thought come end of the year.
“In big games, this is where I need to show my capabilities to play in big games. Doing the little things right for me would be leading the boys around the park, having a good kicking game and playing square into the line and making right decisions.”
