Manchester City given green light to push ahead with Jorginho transfer negotiations

Jorginho agent optimistic Manchester City and Napoli will reach agreement over summer transfer

Jorginho's agent believes Manchester City and Napoli will face no issues in reaching an agreement over the player's transfer to the English champions this summer.

The midfielder has been the subject of much speculation in recent weeks, with both City and rivals United linked to the Brazil-born Italian international.

Jorginho, who moved to Naples from Hellas Verona in 2014, has two seasons left on his contract with the Italians and is yet to sign a new deal at the club.

The player’s agent, Joao Santos, stressed that he has yet to hear from the Napoli hierarchy regarding Jorginho’s future – but appeared optimistic about a deal being struck with City.

“At this moment Jorginho is still under contract but if Napoli finds an agreement with City, the player will go to Manchester. Finding an agreement with the English club will not be a problem considering the importance of the team,” Santos told CalcioNapoli24.

“But, I repeat, that will depend on the decisions of Napoli as the player is tied for another two years.

“City are the Champions of England and are one of the top European clubs. If Napoli and City find a solution, we can talk about it, otherwise he will be happy to continue in Naples.

“At the moment, I have not heard anything from the leadership of Napoli. I hope to hear from the director and maybe in the next few days I will be in Naples to talk about it.”
