Jose Cordoba WON'T be joining Rangers this summer after the Ibrox club ended their interest in the defender.

Philippe Clement had identified the £3million Panama defender as a key target as the Gers boss seeks to improve his defensive options. It's understood Cordoba had already visited Glasgow and been given a VIP tour of the club after taking in the 4-1 win over Kilmarnock earlier this month.

But the Rangers Review report that the Light Blues have pulled out of the race to sign the stopper, with EFL Championship side Norwich City now in pole position to complete a deal. Cordoba, 22, had already said his goodbyes to Levski Sofia and was expected to pitch up in Govan.

However, the Canaries now look set to win the race for his signature with Clement already moving onto other options. Gers have already added Brazilian left-back Jefte to the ranks and are close to signing Motherwell keeper Liam Kelly on a free transfer.

Nigerian defender Leon Balogun, 35, is also set to pen a one-year extension to his deal after a string of impressive displays under Clement.
