There are only two active current players that have scored more goals for Jose Mourinho than Romelu Lukaku. Both of them now play in the Saudi Pro League.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema are two of the greatest forwards of a generation. Their records speak for themselves. Although not in the same bracket, Lukaku also has an established and impressive history.

The 30-year-old has now played under Mourinho at three separate clubs. It was the former Chelsea manager's influence at Roma that took him back to Italy last summer. Now, with the Blues once more looking to find a permanent home for possibly their worst value-for-money signing ever, Mourinho could have come to the rescue.

Five months on from his exit in Rome, the Special One appears to have landed another job. As well as being part of TNT Sports' coverage of the Champions League final at Wembley on Saturday, he has agreed to become the new Fenerbahce boss.

It is reported that the 61-year-old will sign a two-year contract with the Turkish club including an option of a third term. It comes after he was mentioned as being an option for the Chelsea head coach role following Mauricio Pochettino's departure 10 days ago as well as in the conversation to replace Erik ten Hag if Manchester United sack their head coach.

Suggestions of a move to Saudi Arabia have also remained given his links with the Middle East. That may have been ideal for Chelsea as they try to sell Lukaku. The Pro League looks to be the most likely destination for the Belgian due to the available finances both for a transfer fee and wages.

Mourinho to Fenerbahce opens up a chance for yet another reunion for Lukaku though. It would take a big pay drop for the 30-year-old striker but in order to find somewhere he can truly call home may well be one of the only options left.

Chelsea are thought to be after £38million to sell their previously £97.5million man so as to come out even in the accounts. This would be a huge fee for Fenerbahce, but would be a big boost for the incoming Enzo Maresca. The Italian has plenty already on his plate coming into the club and not spending time thinking about what to do with Lukaku would be a certain help.

It is expected that Hakim Ziyech will see his loan at Galatasaray turn permanent following a decent but injury-interrupted year at the club. Had he been returning to Chelsea then a link-up with his good friend Lukaku at Fenerbahce would have been another one possible for Mourinho.

Outside of Lukaku and Ziyech there aren't too many ends to tie up on the loan front for Chelsea. They will now be hoping to watch their old boss from afar, hoping that the chance to sell Lukaku is one Mourinho is keen to exercise.
