Jose Mourinho tells Claudio Ranieri ‘nobody can delete the history you wrote’ after sacking in light of his own Chelsea exit
Jose Mourinho has paid tribute to Claudio Ranieri after the Italian was sacked as manager of Leicester City.
The 65-year-old was dismissed on Thursday night with the Foxes sitting just a point above the drop zone, less than ten months after guiding the Midlands’ side to the most unlikely Premier League title.
But performance levels and results have been a far cry from last season’s success. Leicester have not won or scored in the Premier League since the turn of the year, with their 1-0 victory over West Ham on December 31 their last top flight victory.
Only last month Ranieri was awarded Fifa Coach of the Year for his 2015-16 exploits.
And Mourinho knows the feeling well. The now Manchester United manager was dismissed as Chelsea manager in December 2015 with the Blues then reigning champions, after a run of nine defeats in their opening 16 Premier League matches.
