Josip Brekalo Rangers transfer 'enquiry' made as Fiorentina winger considered

Rangers have reportedly "asked" Fiorentina about their wide player Josip Brekalo.

The Croatian international had been at Hajduk Split on loan earlier this summer where he made 14 appearances and scored twice but since his return to his parent club he has not yet established himself. There are now reports in Italy claiming the 26-year-old is one of their fringe players the club are willing to sanction the departure of and that has alerted Nils Koppen and Philippe Clement to the potential of a cut-price deal.

The player is also believed to be the subject of loan interest from other Italian outfits including Venezia but journalist Nico Schira claims Gers have also made contact. Schira posted: "RangersFC have asked info for Josip #Brekalo, who could leave #Fiorentina in the next days."

It comes - as we exclusively told you - as Rabbi Matondo attracts interest from Leeds United who are still weighing up a possible move for the Welshman.

His £2million departure would free up funds and wages to continue Clement's summer revamp.
