Joy Behar Says It's 'Scientifically Smart' for Women to Date Younger Men: 'I Don't Want Them Old'

Behar warned "a big gap could be problematic" when it comes to dating, while co-panelist Whoopi Goldberg argued, "Your age is not what’s going to get me in your arms. It’s not your age that I’m concerned about, unless you’re under 18"

Joy Behar thinks it’s “smart” for women to date out of their “own age bracket" — and isn't afraid to explain why.

On Thursday’s episode of The View, the television personality, 81, advised women to date younger men as they will have a similar lifespan and be more sexually compatible.

“There is this notion in the public that women should stay within their own age bracket,” she explained. “But when you think about it, women basically live six years longer than men. So if you go with a guy who’s younger than you, you probably die at the same time. So that’s good.”

She added: “Plus, men reach their sexual peak much younger than women do. So you need an older woman. You want a younger guy.”

Behar also shared her own experience with marrying her husband, Steve Janowitz, who is seven years her junior.

“I always have a younger guy,” she shared. “My husband is seven years younger than me. He drives at night, he does the heavy lifting. He’s sharp as a tack. If I get old, depressed and decrepit, which I am already almost, he’ll wheel me around instead of I’m wheeling him around.”

“I think it’s a really good plan to go with a guy younger,” she continued. “It’s scientifically smart to do it.”

She later added, “I like them younger. I don’t want them old.”

Behar’s co-host Whoopi Goldberg noted that she doesn’t allow age to be a factor in who she dates.

“I’ve gone up and down. I go from here to here,” she said. “Because I’m not… Your age is not what’s going to get me in your arms. It’s not your age that I’m concerned about, unless you’re under 18, in which case, I can’t.”

Behar argued that “a big gap could be problematic” because “when you’re 20 and 40 is good. And even 40 and 60. But now 60 and 80 starts to get a little hairy. And 70 and 90? Problematic.”

“I’ll just say this to you: One of the last relationships I had, he was 40 years older than me,” Goldberg, 68, said.
