Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp says the way his new signings have adapted quickly is both a sign of their character and proof his side can win more trophies.
The Reds have added three new faces to their ranks in Darwin Nunez, Fabio Carvalho and Calvin Ramsay. Former Benfica striker Nunez – a record acquisition at Anfield – has subsequently had all eyes on him.
But teenage midfield talent Carvalho, who Liverpool plucked from Fulham, has quickly built up momentum too.
New deputy right-back Ramsay has yet to make his Liverpool debut because of fitness problems.
Nevertheless, Klopp has noticed him bonding with new team-mates off the pitch just as Carvalho and Nunez have on it. And he added that the rest of the squad helping the trio settle is a sign of good things to come.
“We have some new players who joined us over the summer and the one thing that has stood out during pre-season more than anything else is how quickly they have become part of us,” Klopp told his club’s official matchday programme.
“This is because the culture in our squad is so healthy. We have a group that is easy to join and that is credit to the players themselves.
“I can say without any doubt that the team spirit and togetherness right now is as good as I have ever experienced and I have been in football for many years, so the longer we can maintain this mood the better.”
Klopp loving Liverpool team spirit
Klopp added: “The truth is that you may not win any trophies for team spirit but you definitely won’t win anything without it.
“We have shown what can be achieved with everyone pulling in the same direction, so continuing this would make a lot of sense.”
Liverpool are looking to improve on the fine margins alone having come so close to an unprecedented quadruple last season.
They may have lost Sadio Mane and it will take a regular run of games to see how Nunez properly settles. On the basis of his first few games, though, he has adapted well.
The striker scored against Manchester City in the Community Shield, with Carvalho also impressing against the Premier League champions.
Reds ready for Fulham
Having rounded off their pre-season with the win over City, Liverpool are now ready to start the season.
They go up against Fulham at Craven Cottage on Saturday in their first Premier League game of the new season.
The Reds will feel they are in a strong position to go and get three points to start the campaign off right and build momentum.
There isn’t much more Liverpool can do based off last season’s showing, but they nevertheless must start well.
