The representative of Jurgen Klopp has issued a strong answer to suggestions that the German could quit Liverpool FC if results fail to pick up any time soon.

The German coach finds himself under pressure for perhaps the first time in his Anfield reign. A miserable start to the season leaves them closer to the relegation zone than the top of the table. And successive Premier League losses to struggling Nottingham Forest and Leeds has turned the heart up even further on Klopp.

Saturday’s loss to Leeds was certainly a hard one to take. It is the first time Liverpool have lost a Premier League at Anfield in front of a crowd since the 2016/17 season. After the match, Graeme Souness pointed the finger at five players, even claiming Klopp saw their problems coming.

Indeed, the 2020 Premier League champions look a pale imitation of their former selves. Such have been their struggles, that suggestions have even been raised that Klopp may be facing the sack. Jamie Carragher has offered his thoughts on such a scenario here.

Amid the doubts surrounding his future, Klopp knows all the pressure is on his shoulders to turn things around.

However, he insists he has the stomach for the battle ahead.

“My job is not only being here in the moment when the sun is shining and someone gives us a trophy,” the Reds manager said. “My job is also to be here when we are in a really rough period. And I will do that, with all I have, and if possible even more — 100 per cent.”

Klopp’s agent speaks out on resignation reports

Klopp added: “Everything will be judged on me now and that is absolutely fine. When people look at me, they will say he looks tired. That is normal. But I am not. I cannot give that excuse.”

Despite Klopp’s promises, speculation has arisen at who could replace Klopp with this article looking at 10 potential replacements.

Now, addressing suggestions he could call it quits, Klopp’s agent Marc Kosicke is adamant the Reds boss has “no intentions” of walking away.

In quotes carried by Sky Deutchsland reporter Floran Plettenberg, Kosicke reportedly said: “I can assure [you] that Jurgen Klopp has no intention of resigning from Liverpool FC.”

Reports claim Klopp is under pressure from Liverpool owners Fenway Sport Group.

However, Kosicke is adamant that Klopp retains their support.

“The fact that problems could arise this season due to the past intensive season was taken into account by the club’s owners before the start of the season.

“Jurgen enjoys the backing of the people in charge and is in regular contact with them. He loves the club, his team and the fans and is determined to continue and successfully complete the transition in Liverpool. He didn’t extend his contract until 2026 for nothing.”

Michael Owen insists Liverpool can ride the storm

BT Sport pundit Michael Owen, meanwhile, is adamant that good times will soon return to Liverpool.

The former Reds frontman also remains fully behind Klopp and believes they have bounced back from worse situations before.

He also rejects claims that the team is running out of steam and at the end of their cycle.

“They will absolutely be OK,” he told BT Sport. “Liverpool went through a rancid sort of run during the covid season. They were losing games galore.

“It’s not that bad now. They’ve picked up some good results, beating Rangers 7-1 and Bournemouth 9-0. They also beat Man City – supposedly the best team in the world right now – so are showing signs they are still a really good team.

“People are asking if this is the end of the cycle. I’m not having that. Jordan Henderson, Thiago, they still have life in them. Look at James Milner. OK, he’s nearly 37 but he’s playing some of the best football of his career. [Virgil] Van Dijk, [Mohamed] Salah, they are brilliant and will continue being brilliant for a good few years yet.”
