Juventus fly to Birmingham on Tuesday, ahead of Wednesday night's meeting with Aston Villa, while down to the bare bones in terms of senior personnel available to manager Thiago Motta. Villa v Juventus could prove to be a key fixture in the fifth round of Champions League matches, with both sides eyeing a top eight finish, which will secure progressing through to the last 16.

Juve have been left severely weakened, however, by the fact that they have a host of first-team players missing through various injury problems. Indeed the Italian press reported this week that Motta was only able to call on 14 outfield players to train on Monday, and it's an especially thin squad which travels to England as a result.

Remarkably, the squad has been ravaged with a multitude of problems; both Juan Cabal and Gleison Bremer have suffered cruciate ligament injuries, the former during the recent international break while he represented Colombia and the latter in the Champions League back in October. Douglas Luiz, the former Villa midfielder, will not be returning to B6 as he struggles to overcome a muscle problem, while the same can be said for Weston McKennie.

Elsewhere, Dusan Vlahovic also picked up a muscle complaint while away in the break representing Serbia. He is an especially big miss for the Old Lady, having scored nine goals - including three in the Champions League - this season. Nico Gonzalez hasn't played since being forced off with a thigh injury in the win over Leipzig last month and Juve also continue to be without Vasilije Adzic, who has an adductor issue and is only this week being reassessed.

Arkadiusz Milik is also missing as he recovers from knee surgery. Villa have their own injury problems, of course; Amadou Onana and Jacob Ramsey are missing, while Ezri Konsa and Boubacar Kamara - who have been seen in training this week - are also not expected to feature at Villa Park on Wednesday night.

Juventus' 17-man squad for Villa (including three goalkeepers): 1 Perin, 4 Gatti, 5 Locatelli, 6 Danilo, 7 Conceicao, 8 Koopmeiners, 10 Yildiz, 15 Kalulu, 19 Thuram, 21 Fagioli, 22 Weah, 23 Pinsoglio, 27 Cambiaso, 29 Di Gregorio, 37 Savona, 40 Rouhi, 51 Mbangula
