Hull KR back-rower Kane Linnett could miss up to 12 weeks of action with a torn bicep.

The Scotland international sustained the injury during the club’s recent win over Wakefield in Super League.

Hull KR claimed their sixth consecutive win in front of their home crowd at Craven Park with a 32-10 score. However, the victory came with a cost, losing Linnett for almost three months.

Tony Smith confirms Kane Linnett injury

“The real bad news is Kane Linnett; he tore his bicep and is hanging on,” Smith said. “He’s seeing a consultant tomorrow and it’s not looking great based on the scans.

“If he needs a repair, it will be a 12 week repair. It could be a blow; and most possibly a blow to us.

“Any game is an important one and any game that he misses is an important one.

“That’s part and parcel of rugby league. He won’t dwell on it and we won’t dwell on it. It’s disappointing for him and the club but we’ll have him back and ready to go at the back-end of the year and give us some fresh legs.

“He’ll still be contributing around the place in his wisdom and experience and he inspires our boys in the way that he trains.”

Luis Johnson returns to action

Forward Luis Johnson returned from his long-term injury and featured for Dewsbury in the Championship on dual-registration.

He could make his Hull KR return this Friday as they travel to Leeds Rhinos.

Frankie Halton continues to recover from a sprained ankle, while hooker Matt Parcell becomes available following his 11-day concussion protocol.

“It will be good to have Frankie back soon,” Smith added. “Luis Johnson played for Dewsbury last week. We’ve been without him for pretty much all this season, so it will be like having a new signing for us.”
