Loris Karius believes Sadio Mane will make an instant impression for Bayern Munich after leaving Liverpool in a “crazy” transfer for the Bundesliga club.

Mane has arrived in Munich to undergo his medical checks ahead of a transfer from Liverpool. He is leaving the Premier League club after six seasons, during which he won the same number of trophies.

But as the final year of his contract approached, Liverpool have decided to accept Bayern’s final offer for the Senegal international. He has already been replaced by Darwin Nunez.

At Bayern, Mane will take a leading role. And according to fellow Liverpool leaver Karius, he has the traits on both an individual and technical level to succeed in Germany.

“It would be a crazy transfer for Bayern, because he’s one of the top players at Liverpool,” Karius told beIN SPORTS.

“If Bayern Munich manages to sign someone like him, then you can only congratulate them and the Bundesliga too. It would be another star in the league, so I would be very happy for the Bundesliga.

“Sadio Mane is very reserved, very down to earth. He also speaks a bit of German from his time in [RB] Salzburg. I’ve always got along very well with him, actually everyone.

“Should he come to Germany, he won’t have any problems adapting.”

Karius reflects on own Liverpool stint

Goalkeeper Karius is also leaving Liverpool this summer, six years after signing from Mainz.

He spent two seasons at Jurgen Klopp’s disposal before an error-laden performance in the 2018 Champions League final cost him a future at the club. He was then loaned out for three years before being omitted from their squad for his final campaign.

Now set to become a free agent, the 28-year-old has reflected on his rollercoaster journey with Liverpool.

“There were ups and downs,” he admitted. “It’s part of the game, that’s football, but I’ve developed as a person.

“I’ll take my determination with me to my next job. It’s about having a good feeling.

“The club can be in Germany, but also abroad. I just have to feel that the chemistry with those responsible is right, that they have a good feeling about me, and I have a good feeling with them.”

Karius is leaving Liverpool with 49 appearances for the club to his name, compared to Mane’s 269.
