Kate Middleton's brother James enjoys holiday to Italy with fiancee Alizee Thevenet
Like thousands of other engaged couples in the UK, James Middleton and fiancee Alizee Thevenet had their wedding plans scuppered by the coronavirus pandemic this summer.
However, the pair have fortunately been able to cheer themselves up with a holiday to Italy.
In a post on Instagram, Kate Middleton’s younger brother, 33, revealed that the trip to Sicily marked a year since he proposed to the French banker.
The entrepreneur wrote: “It’s a year since I asked Alizee to marry me… what a year it’s been!
“Two homes [in] lockdown. Two attempts at a wedding.”
Middleton added: “We managed to escape to Italy for a quick dip in the the sea.”
His announcement captioned a carousel of images showing the couple enjoying the sunshine aboard a yacht.
The images have received more than 27,000 ‘likes’ and over 500 well-wishes.
One person wrote: “Beautiful pictures.”

The Duchess of Cambridge’s sibling revealed in May that he had spent several weeks isolating with his future bride and his parents Michael and Carole, at their home in Bucklebury, Berkshire.

In an Instagram post, Middleton gave his 193,000 followers a glimpse of the family home where Kate, 38, and their sister Pippa, 36, have regularly returned to in their 20s and 30s.
In March, it was revealed that he and his fiancee had decided to postpone their wedding due to the pandemic.
They were due to tie the knot in the spring, but decided to instead hold it at a later date.
According to the Daily Mail, the couple were “sad” about the turn of events, but felt that it wasn’t “practical” to continue to hold their nuptials in the coming months.
“It's very sad, but it's just not practical to hold it in this crisis,” a friend of the pair told the paper.
“Holding an Anglo-French wedding is impossible in the coming months and is still likely to be difficult in the summer.
“They would prefer to wait until all their guests are able – and happy – to attend.”
The couple confirmed they had got engaged last October; they started dating in 2018.
