Kean: Why Jones will captain England

Blackburn Rovers manager Steve Kean says his former player Phil Jones has the attributes required to captain England in future.

Kean, who helped nurture Jones before he joined Manchester United in a multi-million pound deal last summer, says the young defender is one of the most talented players he has ever worked with.

The 20-year-old made his international debut as a midfielder against Spain in November and though he has been used in a variety of positions at United, Kean insists "he is that good he can play anywhere."

The Rovers boss also outlined his managerial heroes, with the legendary trio of Jock Stein, Bill Shankly and Sir Alex Ferguson all singled out for praise.
