Man Utd legend Roy Keane has predicted his Premier League title winners for next season with Liverpool and Man City to fight for the title once again.

Player recruitment has been pretty impressive so far from most of the clubs in the ‘Big Six’ with the race for a top-four spot becoming harder than ever to judge.

Chelsea, Tottenham and Arsenal have all made some impressive signings with rumours there’s more to come from all three clubs.

Most expensive new signings XI costs £470m and features eight from Premier League

But Keane doubts that they can get anywhere near Man City and Liverpool, who contested last season’s title, before Pep Guardiola’s side eventually won on the last day of the campaign.

“I don’t think they will close the gap,” Keane told Sky Bet. “I think they will be a bit better. They have quality and the recruitment, but you can’t look beyond Liverpool and Man City.”

Man Utd have a chanced to be the most improved side under new boss Erik ten Hag after a disaster of season that saw them finish sixth in 2021/22.

The Red Devils ended 13 points adrift of fourth-placed Tottenham, missing out on the Champions League, and 35 points behind champions Man City.

But despite the appointment of Ten Hag and all the rumoured additions this summer, Keane can’t see Man Utd competing with Liverpool or City “just yet”.

Keane added: “The manager no doubt will be given money to spend, how he recruits, four or five experienced players have left the club, which I think is a good thing.

“But I still don’t see United competing with Liverpool and Manchester City, not just yet.”

Man City pipped Liverpool to the Premier League title on a dramatic final day of last season and both sides have brought in new signings.

City have lost Raheem Sterling to Chelsea, while Sadio Mane left Liverpool for Bayern Munich – but the additions of Erling Haaland at the Etihad and Darwin Nunez at Anfield should see another closely-fought title battle.

But Keane is backing City again, the Man Utd legend continued: “Brilliant players, they’ve obviously improved with an unbelievable striker [Haaland] and they’ve got one of the greatest managers ever in Pep [Guardiola].”
