Kenneth Vargas is adamant an interview in his homeland surrounding aHearts exit in January have been 'taken out of context' and that he remains fully committed to the Tynecastle club.

On Thursday, the winger was quoted in an interview by ESPN's Costa Rican website saying that he wants to play against higher calibre opponents and that he would be looking for a way out of Hearts in the upcoming transfer window. In the interview, Vargas - who arrived in the Premiership on a permanent transfer from C.S. Herediano in March following a successful loan spell - also claimed that he has a clause in his contract that will allow him to cut short his loan with the Jambos if a release fee is met.

We told you on Thursday that Hearts bosses will discuss the reported comments with the player on his return from international duty with Costa Rica. But in a strongly worded statement on Instagram, Vargas, 22, - who has registered two goals and one assist in 19 matches for Neil Critchley's side this season - insists that his words have been twisted. He said: "To the fans, teammates and the entire Hearts family. I want to take a moment to address some recent reports in the media that have misinterpreted my words and taken them out of context.

"I'd like to set the record straight: like any professional football player, I dream of playing in one of the top five leagues in the world. Achieving that dream, however, is a journey that requires immense time, dedication and relentless effort. (I) am fully aware that I am still young and have so much to learn, both on and off the pitch.
